My mother-in-law is very conservative. We agreed to get married in a church, but I didn’t think through how that was going to affect what dress I was could wear. I found the most gorgeous dress, I feel soooo confident in it, and it was in my budget! The only issue is, it’s a little low cut for my mother-in-law’s taste (she would prefer I wear a turtle neck). I’m not very chesty, so I didn’t think it would be inappropriate to wear in church… until my mother-in-law saw a photo of it. The thing is, I already bought it, and she told my fiancé I could absolutely not wear that to her church.  I’m devastated and also don’t have the budget to buy a new dress. I’m thinking about giving her the option to pay for a second dress, so I can wear that to the ceremony, and then change. But, I also want photos of me getting ready in my original dress…  and to think I won’t get a first kiss shot in the dress of my dreams makes me want to cry. I don’t know what to do.

Maybe you could compromise with her and see if your tailor/where you got your dress has any boleros that would go well with the dress. You could wear it just for the ceremony and take it off after. You can also look at Pinterest for inspo, I have a few saved because I’d like to be a bit more covered for my ceremony and then I get to basically have a second reveal of my dress🤣

I never thought about having something that is easily removable so I could still have getting ready photos in my dress. Thank you for the idea!
