Do we need flowers for the sweetheart table?

Q: Do we need flowers for the sweetheart table?

VIDEO SUMMARY

Florals are an absolute must for a sweetheart table. This is going to be the focal point of the room. This is going to be where all your toasts happen. It might be in the background for your dancing, really. This is like an intimate moment for photos of you and your spouse. So I absolutely think florals are a necessity. However, there’s some ways you can either bring in, like, your ceremony arch behind it to kind of frame you. If there’s any floral pieces from the floor from ceremony, you can move those in front of the table. Your bridal bouquet can sit on there. You can have a couple of different bouquets from your bridesmaids on there. There’s a lot of ways to reuse florals for your sweetheart table. This is something that doesn’t need to be set up beforehand, so you can use all those ceremony florals for that. But I do think it absolutely needs to have some kind of center focal point just because there’s going to be a lot of photos of the two of you photographed there. And it just going to be really like a wow factor, especially during toast, those photos can be kind of boring, but I think adding that element really just elevates the experience.

How can I cut floral costs?

Q: How can I cut floral costs? Is greenery cheaper?

VIDEO SUMMARY

Do not, do not sprinkle your floral budget around. So what I mean by that is when you start working on the design aspect of your wedding and you start thinking about a budget for just that. And maybe it’s not exactly where you want it to be, but that’s okay because what you don’t want to do is sprinkle the budget around. You don’t need to have flowers and candles and design in all areas of your Sarah ceremony or reception space. What I usually recommend is taking a large portion of that budget and putting it into one big dramatic bang. So let’s say you’re going to do a beautiful bar as you first walk into the reception and you decide to do a large dramatic floral kind of emerging from the center of that bar that’s giving you the big bang factor, right? The guests walk in, it’s kind of the wow. And it actually could very easily becomes an instagram moment for all of your guests. That’s what you want to do. You want that big bang factor rather than sprinkling the budget all the way through. And it kind of then feels like you really didn’t do much of anything because it’s kind of evenly spread out, right? You really don’t have a lot of impact anywhere. Maybe in those other areas you do lots of candles and maybe accent with rose petals, something a little simpler because we know we’ve had a big bang and that’s what people are going to really remember and talk about. So just keep that in mind when you start to work on your design.

Do I really need boutonnières?

Q: Do I really need boutonnières?

VIDEO SUMMARY

No, you do not have to have a boutonniere. This is only traditional, and it’s a tradition that has been going on for many, many years. But I’m actually kind of sick of this tradition, to be honest with you. And the reason why is because when the guys put on these boutonnieres, they don’t mean it, but they are so not careful. And when they are put on before ceremony, oftentimes they are already broken or the flower is dead. And it’s just such a pain in the ass when this happens, because you want it to be pretty and perfect and look good for photos. But a lot of times they’re already ruined before ceremony starts. And they’re not cheap. They’re at least $15 to $25 each. So if you want to save cost, just take out the boutonnieres. I don’t think anyone’s going to miss them. In fact, I think the guys would really appreciate not having to wear a boutonniere or pinholes through the suits that they probably bought for so much money. I actually think that if it’s a black tie affair and you’re wearing this black tie, expensive suit, that you don’t put nothing on it. Just leave it clean and simple and with no boutonniere. So, no, you do not have to have a boutonniere.

Can I use my bridesmaids bouquets as center pieces?

Q: Can I use the bridesmaids bouquets as center pieces?

VIDEO SUMMARY

You bridesmaids bouquets. Can you reuse them during your reception? Yes, and you should. It’s a great cost savings. You’ve already paid for them once. They’re beautiful. And regardless of their size, you should absolutely reuse them during your reception. There probably will not be centerpieces because the centerpieces for your tables will be a different size and scope. But there are two ways that I love to use bridesmaid’s bouquets. One is decor for your sweetheart table, in which case you would just make sure with your florist that you have vases, that the bridesmaid’s bouquets can just be plopped right into with a little bit of water on the bottom and that and some votive candles. And your sweetheart table is probably all set. The other way I like to use them is to lay them flat on the cake table and all around the cake table. And depending on how many you have, you can layer them or you can put votive candles in between. But laying them flat on the cake table or in vases on your sweetheart table is a really, really great way to reuse your bridesmaid’s bouquets during your reception. Cheers.
